Don't Let New Year's Resolutions Set You Up for Failure
Too often, people get excited during New Year's and list these robust goals, only to get back to reality after the holidays and realize they can't even get started with half of them.
Take your time when setting goals. Consider your entire lifestyle and those of your loved ones which impact YOU! (spouse, kids).
Create a list of goals in phases. Work on Phase One, accomplish them then move on to Phase Two.
And most importantly, think back to the past years you set New Year's Resolutions. Are you repeating them this year? For instance, quit smoking, lose weight, go to the gym more etc etc. If so, it's time to change your way of thinking. It's not working.
There needs to be a paradigm shift: a different, healthier way of thinking. Always keep in mind the consequences of your daily actions will be reflected in your future.. your health, wealth, happiness. A merry go round of goal setting each year just brings you back to square one every year. And where will that lead you 10 years from now?
Our lifestyle coaching and integrated therapies help individuals reach progressively higher levels in their function. The most successful people in many fields in the world have coaches: Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky.. We all need someone to help us keep focused and stay on track. There are too many distractions in our modern society.. too many temptations as well.
Do a reality check on where you are in your life. Document where you want to be. And if you are lost finding your way, consider reaching out to a professional who can be the objective, positive influence in your life!

Boost Immunity and Digestion During the Winter Holidays with these Delicious Seasonings!
We love using these winter warming seasonings in our holiday preparations. Try a few to ease digestion, boost energy and help you through this hectic season.
Sage- chop some up and use in soups, pasta sauces and especially in stuffing. One of Dr Dias' favorites: Reduces excess secretions (stops sweating) Great for flus, colds. Promotes hair growth. Acts on the brain to boost memory, promote calmness and clarity. Combines well with Gotu Kola.
Clove- Add to mulled wine or cider. Great in sauces/curries and baking. A strong antixodant and anti-aging effect.
Cardamom- Add to holiday drinks, chai teas, curries. Very effective for digestive problems (especially in children) bronchitis and other respiratory ailments.
Cinnamon- Use in soups, sprinkle on french toast, add to squash or holiday rice pudding. Helps control blood sugar. Great for diabetics.
Thyme- Add to rice dishes, poultry, burger patties, seafood with lemon. Those with respiratory problems including asthma can help open airways and reduce inflammation.

LPC's Winning Team at Myeloma Race for All Cancers!
Last Sunday we participated in the AZ Myeloma Race for Hope for All Cancers. Six of us walked. Two of us ran the 5K and George and Kathryn offered free chair massages to all participants, volunteers and guests. We sported our new LPC team shirts and each member was treated to healthy snacks including rice meal bars and Endura rehydration electrolyte drink. We made them ditch the powerade received in their free event tote bags!
Congratulations to Alex K who placed 3rd in his category in the 5K and to Chris W who ran his personal 5K best that day! The spirit and energy was just as strong as last year. Great Sponsors! Enthusiastic racers and hardworking volunteers who put such a wonderful event together, despite the early chill and strong morning winds. Special thanks to George and Kathryn for their amazing treatments and the Wilson family who participated and allowed us to borrow their portable table. And of course Barbara Kavanagh the founder of AZ Myeloma Network and event chairperson for her remarkable passion and drive to bring awareness and support to all Myeloma Cancers! Take a look at more photos on our facebook page!

Spending time with the AZ Myeloma Network.
Last Saturday, Kathryn Winter, one of our massage therapists, and I visited the AZ Myeloma Network Conference to donate some time. I can't begin to tell you what an experience it was to see the union of all the professionals, caregivers, patients and supporters under one roof. Despite the afternoon hours when we arrived, the energy was phenomenal. We each sat in on different breakout sessions and listened to concerns, questions and comments facing those afflicted with this deadly cancer. Resources offered were payment assistance (copay relief services) diagnostic testing and risk assessment, support groups and so much more. I was impressed with the Virginia Piper Cancer Center services for cancer patients. If you or a loved one is affected on any level by cancer, visit http://www.azmyelomanetwork.org/ for more information and stay tuned for next year's conference. Barbara Kavanagh is the founder of this wonderful organization and the energy and persistence you see in her work is just the foundation for the PASSION she holds in helping people with cancer.
Sunday May 1st is the annual AZ Myeloma Network Race for Hope for ALL Cancers. We hope you can join us in walking or running a 1mile or 3K to help bring hope and better resources to those underserved in our community. Visit http://www.azmyelomanetwork.org/ to register and join the Lake Pleasant Chiropractic team. We would love to have you!
