There's nothing more grounding and stress relieving than the practice of yoga. For thousands of years yoga has been practiced by many for its several health benefits.
Many studies have shown yoga can normalize blood pressure, ease chronic pain and promote sound sleep. Our wellness center offers a restorative traditional yoga class- no hot rooms, not exertion (power yoga). We chose restorative because many of us need to wind down at the end of a busy day. Jotina, our certified instructor, takes her students through gentle poses, some challenging to help them gain progress in their flexibility and balance. She is very in tune with the anatomy and alignment. Join us for an evening of relaxation and you'd be surprised how much better you will feel, and the improvement in your breathing and concentration. Our classes are in small groups so each student receives one on one attention from the instructor.
Tuesdays from 7:15pm-8:15pm
Classes are $16 each. Card of ten classes $130
Call our office (623) 572-4476 to reserve your space. YOUR FIRST CLASS IS ONLY $8.

Last Sunday (February 15th) we headed down to Westgate to greet the marathon and half marathon runners crossing the finish line! What an experience to be right there, seeing the emotions, the exhilaration, the accomplishments of the many participants. (It's given me the inspiration to get out and start running again!) We stood alongside volunteers from Walmart and hung metals around their neck. We had to be quick, especially since some runners stormed through the finish line....like our patient (we call them practice members, actually) Heather W! She actually snuck by and we didn't see her! And she didn't see us! Heather works for Marix Servicing and is also a realtor. Sorry we missed you Heather but we very proud of you and glad you didn't injure yourself of course! She completed the half marathon in approximately 2 1/2 hours! CONGRATULATIONS Heather!
IMS sponsored this event and we had such a good time we hope to play a bigger role next year. And we promise we'll be in the know and the lookout for all our practice members who participate in these amazing feats! We'll try to be there to support you!

Well, from the Peoria Sports Complex, we headed up to Marix Servicing, a mortgage servicing company, to give an ergonomic presentation "Stay Fit While you Sit". What a busy, fun day and we really enjoyed meeting the employees and learning about their work environment. I must say this company does take good care of their staff! The fact that they bring in speakers monthly to present topics from financial planning to healthcare tells us they make the effort to foster a healthy, motivating environment for their team. During our presentation we talked about the causes and effects of stress, and broke down the "workstation" into components (monitor, keyboard, chair etc), making simple suggestions to create a healthier workspace. Jackie taught them some easy, effective stretches and we then demonstrated the Insight Millennium Subluxation Station, our assessment technology used to detect nerve disturbance. Attendees were treated to a free chair massage from Gabi. Our goal was to give them some takeaway info they can immediately implement into their work space. A healthier employee is a happier and more productive employee!
Today was a beautiful day to be outside and give back to our community! We participated in Peoria Community Center's Step into Spring and performed lung capacity tests on over 25 active adults! They had just completed several laps around the Complex. What a way to start off the season! Gabi was on hand to give them a relaxing chair massage before lunch and Jackie facilitated the tests and educated them on the benefits of exercise. I, myself had the fun job of greeting, answering questions and sharing information about chiropractic and our wellness services. I think we were the most popular vendor table! It was nice to meet so many people who embrace fitness and health! One thing I noticed was more people this year were familiar with chiropractic more than any past event we attended! How refreshing! Many were happily surprised that Medicare covers chiropractic care. We plan to be at their next event in July, the Aloha Fun Walk!

Our very own Jackie Mueller of On the Ball Fitness presented to the Southwest Valley Express Network luncheon on the benefits of exercise for heart health last week! We all enjoyed a fabulous lunch, networked with other professional business owners and listened to a panel of speakers at the Tuscany Falls Country Club. My photos came out too dark so I added a photo of Jackie. She co-presented with a nutritionist and a cardiologist. Altogether they made a terrific case for why women need to pay attention to their health. Heart disease is currently the Number ONE killer of women. Do we need anymore reason than that to wake up and get moving? Jackie's main point that struck a chord in many of us was.. "if anything else, do it for yourself." Stop putting yourself last. A little exercise daily goes a long way! She gave a new meaning to listen to your heart. We're proud of you Jackie! Keep moving the world and getting people On the Ball!
Jackie teaches fitness classes at our Wellness Center every Tuesday at 6:00pm and Friday at 9:15am. For more information, call Jackie at 623-640-9112.

On January 9th,we hosted a Patient Appreciation Party in form of a Luau! Our team worked hard to pull it all together including decorations, food (yes, we prepared most of it). Dr. Zair's Hawaiian meatballs were a big hit. Over 30 people attended, some in Luau attire. Prizes were given out for best outfits. We did a drawing for a grand prize for those patients who brought a guest. Our winner, Danah F won a FREE chiropractic treatment, Free Swedish massage, Free On the Ball Fitness Class and a coupon for a yoga class! Talk about grand winnings!
It was a little chilly that night and surprisingly our tikki torches did not blow out from the wind. We plan to do it again next year but a little later towards the spring. We hope more of our patients will join us!
