Turning Back the Clock with Natural Antiaging Skin Products

Did you know that people living in Arizona are one of the most Vitamin D deficient populations? Why? We are so busy avoiding the sun here and slathering on sunscreen (most of which by the way contain harmful chemicals).

Vitamin D is made in the skin by exposure to the sun. If you need to wear a suncsreen, choose an all natural SPF formula, free of parabens and EDTA for example.

Our summer specials are focused around healthy skin. Until August 31st, purchase any of our skin products and supplements below at 20% off:

All Devita Natural Skin care
Vitamin D3, liquid drops or gel caps.
All Fish Oil Formulas
Organic Coconut Oil
Cataplex F- delivers Calcium into the tissues and helps prevent sunburn
Orchex- glandular support for dryness and age/sun spots.
Black Currant Seed Oil- (Dr. Melanie's favorite) for dry, itchy skin, also recommended for breast health.
Regenemax- New! Powerful orthosilicic acid: for thicker hair, nails and regeneration of bones and cartilage.

Putting your health on hold...

We're all feeling the pinch right now. The bleak economy has made a profound impact on many people's spending decisions. Does it really make sense to continue to frequent your favorite coffee shop every morning when your budget has tightened significantly? How about brewing organic coffee at home instead? Limit your coffee shop splurge to a weekly meeting or an evening out. The money you save on brewing at home outweighs the per lb increase in cost for the organic beans. (The coffee bean is heavily saturated with toxins- pesticides and herbicides, so we highly recommend that if you drink coffee, drink the organic type.)

Now let's talk about prevention. Does it cost more to stay well or to get well?

Think about it. What does it cost you for a trip to the emergency or urgent care, not just financially, but mentally. What about the loss of work time? Emotional stress from the emergency itself? Besides an accident or trauma, most reasons for emergency visits could be prevented. People who live with healthy habits, take care of their bodies and their minds and seek regular check ups with their chiropractor are far more successful at avoiding unnecessary medical intervention. They are not on a laundry list of prescription drugs and of course, don't suffer side effects. Chiropractic is the only form of treatment that directly restores balance to the nervous system (without drugs or surgery), - the system that controls every function in the body! So wouldn't it make sense to make sure that the nervous system is in top form, especially during stressful times?

Make an appointment with your chiropractor today and discuss what you need to do to achieve optimal health and a better quality of life. It is especially during these stressful times when we need to invest in our health and focus on prevention. Without a healthy nervous system, one can fold under stress.

Helping feed the hungry in our community

Our wellness center is teaming up with Alphagraphics of Glendale and other local business to collect food for St. Mary's Food Bank. For a minimum 3 item donation at our center, your name will be entered into a drawing to win a FREE massage. Drop off your donation during our office hours until July 31st. These tough economic times have impacted the non-profit community tremendously. A few cans or boxes out of your pantry will help make a HUGE difference. Thank you for your generosity.

The dysregulated practice of drug prescribing in the entertainment world.

I often hear from patients who are on multiple prescription drugs that some of their doctors are not aware, nor do they ask about other drugs currently being used. That alone concerns me as a wellness doctor, especially when I think of the potential harmful interactions and side effects.

The tragic passing of the world's best entertainer, Michael Jackson, has unveiled such a dysregulated practice of multiple doctor drug prescriptions - as this is the strong suspicion that led to his demise. Celebrities can have anything at their beckoning call..including drugs, whether to mask the pain, put them to sleep and many other reasons. Dr. Deepak Chopra expressed frustration and anger over this situation on CNN and stated the doctors involved need to be identified. And I agree. The world lost a hero on June 25, 2009. (This is a difficult post for me to write since I had a brief personal connection with Michael in 1984 and I have always had an immense admiration for him. I am anxiously waiting for justice to be served). You may read my personal blog. www.drmelanie.wordpress.com for more details. As we wait for the final toxicology reports on his demise, we are saddened that he is gone, no matter what, no matter how. He was too young and his passing could've been prevented.

We are all not celebrities but my point is that ANYONE prescribed medications should research all drugs and stay informed. It is your responsibility. It is your life. Your body is your temple. You need to be your own doctor first. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor and pharmacist questions. It could save your life. Find a doctor who will listen to you, spend time with you, not rush you since he/she has a waiting room full of patients and the managed care system is paying the bill.

Death by iatrogenic causes ranks in the top five in the U.S. What more can we say?
