Doctors Advance their Training in Functional Endocrinology

After years of working with patients nutritionally in restoring their health, Dr. Dias-Zair and Dr. Zair returned recently from Los Angeles where they advanced their training in functional endocrinology with Dr. Datis Kharrazian.

What is functional endocrinology? It looks at the interactive pathways of systems in the body, not just the organ of interest. It evaluates and identifies subclinical patterns of deficiencies and excesses using objective testing such as blood chemistry, urinalysis, saliva testing and stool analysis.

Most patients who seek our health are those with symptoms of fatigue, weight issues, hormone imbalances. Identifying the underlying cause of these symptoms is the goal of functional nutrition. Restorative (not replacement) methods along with lifestyle interventions are used to help the patient recover and "get their life back."

Initial nutritional evaluations at Lake Pleasant Chiropractic include a thorough history, consultation, review of intake forms and functional testing to include lung capacity, tissue calcium testing, body composition, digital nerve scan (thermal and surface EMG) and more. This appointment lasts approximately one hour. During this appointment, the doctor may recommend lab testing to help determine what exactly going on. Often times patient tell us "My doctor said my blood test was normal but why do I still feel this way?" The answers usually lie in our functional lab interpretations and lengthy consultation where we take time to obtain a detailed history and listen to our patients.

Successive appointments are scheduled to monitor patient progress and response to protocols. Lab analyses are scheduled separately.

Lifestyle intervention is provided either through one on one consults with the doctor or our coach Creating Wellness Lifestyle programs.
